Video Review

Last term I worked with Antonio, Vicky and William, in making a video about a consumer problem.  Our learning for this video was, what to do when buying faulty goods.

We all played an important role in this video, Vicky played the mother and created the props, Antonio filmed, edited, published and directed, William played the main child and gave ideas and I played the Shop Assistant and gave ideas also.

One of the questions after we made the video was, Did we achieve the learning objective?  I think our team did.

Video pros, some of the good things about the video include, we explained clearly how to approach the consumer, the video was clear and not wobbly and we used clear voices.

Video cons, the improvements we could have made in this video, was that we could of changed the volume settings and have a better filming location.

I think our team worked really well with each other, we got down to work and got it finished on time.

Book Review

Today I have just finished reading a book called Wonder Struck and I decided to do a book review.

Ben is deaf in one ear, his mother has also died.  He is feeling very alone even though he lives at his aunt’s house. One stormy night he sneaks out.  Eighty three steps away is his house, the one he and his mother shared before the funeral.

Then he finds a book called Wonder Struck with red ink inside the front cover. It says,  for Danny, Love M. Ben also finds a book mark with a phone number on it and he wonders if it might be a link  to his long lost dad, who he never knew.

Ben calls the number as the storm is outside, lighting strikes the house and sends Ben to the ground.

He wakes up in hospital realizing he is deaf in both of his ears.  Ben wonders about the history of his dad and so he escapes and travels to New York where he meets a friend called Jamie.  Jamie’s dad works at the American Museum of Natural History – and this is where Ben discovers some  links to his dad.

Rose is deaf and lives with her father and mother, movie star Lillian Mayhew, life is sad for Rose because she never gets to see her mum and she’s locked in her house, unable to life a normal life.

Like ben, she also runs away to New York where she meets an old friend at the Museum of Natural History. His name is Walter and he takes Rose to his house and takes care of her.

This book is over 400 pages, but it took me one day to read it because it has quite few pictures.  Out of 10 I would rate this book 8-9.  I would defiantly recommend this book to people who are  9 and up.

Sports!

For my  Homework our teacher said that we had to write a post on something with our opinion so I chose Why children should play sports.

Firstly,  Self-Esteem, playing sports can have a positive reaction on a child’s confidence, because being praised by the team coach or parents can help them build self-confidence.  They also push and trust their own abilities .

Secondly,   Playing sports can also help them to socialise though out the rest of their lives and they learn how to interact with people similar to their age.

Lastly, Sports is a great way to promote your heath though Childhood.  There are a lot of sports to chose from here are some for example,    Swimming,Hockey,Netball,Rugby,Golf,Bowling, etc.

Here are some of my pointers on why children and adults also should play sport.

Visit Queenstown

Queenstown is a place in the south Island that you have to visit.
These three places are well worth visiting in Queenstown.

1.   The are a huge selection of walking, biking tracks in and around the alpine town. You can walk along the shores of  Lake Wakatipu or if you want a leisurely stroll close to the city Centre.  There is also the Queenstown Gardens.

2.  You can take a Cruise across Lake Wakatipu on the “Lady Of The Lake,” the last remaining coal-fired passenger vessel,in the southern hemisphere.  This cruise can be combined with the Walter Peak High Country Farm where you can experience farm life from watching shearing demonstrations to horse treking.

3. The Skippers Canyon is an adventure of white-water rafting, bungee jumping and jetboating, it is New Zealands most spectacular Canyon.

One Activity I would encourage visitors to see in Queenstown is the Kiwi Birdlife Park. There is of course Kiwis and other birdlife veiwing. The conservation department also put their own shows on. You not only get entertainment but it is also very educational, there is also a Maori Hunting Village and Native forest and trails to be seen if you would like to learn more about this activity click here > http://www.kiwibird.co.nz/

What is my favourite food? Well I will tell you.  When it comes to food I have a lot of favourites but my most favourite is CHOCOLATE, who doesn’t like chocolate, it is literally impossible to not have a craving over this delicious, creamy, block of wonderfulness that just blows up in your mouth after one bite. Just writing about this is making me drool all over the keys.

chocolateWith chocolate there are a lot of flavors,Turkish delight, bubbly, dark, milk and many more, with all these flavours there has to be one that stands out for me and I think I know what that one is!  Definitly Bubbly  Mint.

people normaly call me a Chocoholic because I am in love with chocolate(you can probably tell in the story.)

What is your favourite type of food? and why I would love to know.

How did the alphabet develop?

Alphabetsphoto © 2008 Kyle Van Horn | more info (via: Wylio)The history of the Alphabet started way back in Ancient Egypt, but the Romans stared to develop it with symbols.

Phoenicians developed the Phoneic alphabet in 800 B.C when the Phoenicians used it purely with letters.

In 1824, French man Louis invented a way of typing that the blind could use, by reading and understanding the language they would use there fingers to feel the bumps, and understand what it says.

Few alphabets around the world have the ideal exactness, such as the Filipino alphabet, they have the same letters as the English alphabet but they use two more letters than us. When they use there alphabet they put there letters in a whole different place to the English words.  They normally speak English as well as Tagalog and many others.

The alphabet has changed the world because if we havn’t of the letters we would of probably still be using symbols.
